At each Roots of Unity workshop, participants are guided through their first experience of reading, digesting, and synthesizing a mathematics research paper — a challenging and daunting task that can trigger feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome. Participants work in small peer groups based on shared areas of research interest and are supported by project leaders and near-peer mentors. On the final day, each group delivers a presentation about the paper and their experience.
