Abstract
Over the past fifty years, control concepts have been widely used to solve
practical problems with enormous impact on society. This talk highlights some
new research directions of control science and technology and some emerging
industrial applications. This talk has three sessions: (1) an overview of Eaton
Global Research & Technology control group (2) quick survey of control
development and applications (3) new research directions and emerging
industrial applications.
Yigang Wang is an Engineering Specialist at Eaton global research & technology,
located in Eden Prairie, MN. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Mechanical
Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2010, and in
Electrical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in
2006. Dr. Wang joined Eaton global research & technology in May 2010, and since
then he has been working on identifying and incubating technology innovation
ideas for new product development by considering both engineering and
market/business challenges. Dr. Wang's experience includes: mechatronics and
control, power electronics control, optimization, real-time and embedded system
development, with applications to electrical power systems and
electro-mechanical systems, such as, smart grid/microgrid, data centers,
precision motion systems, and hybrid electrical vehicles.
