Abstract
Control of wave dispersion in metamaterials is accomplished through design of sub-wavelength structures. The materials used in design depend on the frequency of radiation to be controlled. In the microwave regime we discuss the use of corrugated metallic wave-guide structures and effective surface impedance. For optical frequencies we discuss the use of plasmonic materials. For plasmonic materials the spectra of the Neumann Poincare boundary integral operators are important.
