The notion of tangent measure was first introduced by D. Preiss in the eighties. Understanding the structure of the cone of tangent measures was one of the key ingredients in his proof of the rectifiability of Radon measures whose density exist. In this talk we will present a brief introduction to the notion of tangent measure as well as some applications both to Geometric Measure Theory and Harmonic Analysis.
