Abstract
Surface implicitization, i.e. finding the implicit equation of an algebraic surface defined parametrically, is a classical problem and there are numerous approaches to its solution. In this talk, we will show that the linear syzygies of the parametrization of a rational surface can be used to represent and to compute its implicit equation under suitable conditions. This is, in some sense, a natural generalization of the well-known method of "moving curves" for plane curve implicitization.
