I shall study the cubic Szegö equation, a nonlinear pseudodifferential evolution equation, on the space of functions with bounded mean oscillation on the circle. Important tools for this study are the John-Nirenberg estimate, the Nirenberg-Nishida abstract form of the Cauchy-Kowalevskaya theorem, and the Nash-Moser theorem.
