Dima Shlyakhtenko of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics presents "Free Probability and Free Transport, Part 2 of 2" at IPAM's Non-commutative Optimal Transport Tutorials. Abstract: We give a brief introduction to Voiculescu’s free probability theory. We discuss some notions of transport in this setting as well as the Biane-Voiculescu extension of the notion of the Wasserstein distance. We also give a few applications to problems in operator algebras.
