Recorded 06 May 2024. Oanh Nguyen of Brown University presents "Epidemics on large networks" at IPAM's Statistical Mechanics Beyond 2D Workshop. Abstract: In this talk, we discuss several popular models for epidemics, including the Susceptible-Infected-Recovered-Susceptible (SIRS), SIS, and SIR models. In particular, we will focus on the phase transition of the survival time on both large deterministic graphs and random graphs. I will talk about recent progress and open questions.
