Recorded 10 January 2024. Nate Harman of the University of Georgia presents "Pre-Galois Categories and Discrete Categories" at IPAM's Symmetric Tensor Categories and Representation Theory Workshop. Abstract: In previous work with Andrew Snowden we introduced a construction of symmetric tensor categories from oligomorphic groups. In this talk I will discuss some of our more recent work which goes in the oppose direction: Telling when a symmetric tensor category comes from an oligomorphic group, and then recovering the oligomorphic group. I will then discuss how this story potentially fits into a conjectural classification of symmetric tensor categories.
