I will suggest several open problems on optimization over degree sequences of graphs and hypergraphs and over line sums of matrices; describe several recent partial results such as for convex functions, complete graphs, complete bipartite graphs and monotone matrices, and bounded tree width or depth; and outline some proof techniques, including our recent powerful theory of sparse integer programming in high dimensions, which will be explained.
