Abstract: Are systems that are composed of pieces that are each fair necessarily fair in the aggregate? We will discuss composition of fair pieces. One complaint about algorithmic fairness is that it is descriptive, and not prescriptive. What would algorithmic affirmative action look like? We will discuss some suggestions.
