Maximizing Multi-messenger Astronomy with LISA

December 2, 2021
Abstract
Recorded 02 December 2021. Kelly Holley-Bockelmann of Vanderbilt University presents "Maximizing Multi-messenger Astronomy with LISA" at IPAM's Workshop IV: Big Data in Multi-Messenger Astrophysics. Abstract: The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), a space-based gravitational wave mission set to launch in the 2030’s, will be rife with a variety of multi-messenger sources, from thousands of individual binary stellar remnants in the Milky Way to massive black hole mergers throughout the entire Universe. We will discuss how LISA data can combine with radio, optical, X-ray and particle observations to become one of the most transformative tools in astronomy, and will cover how, when, and what data will maximize LISA’s potential for multi-messenger science.
