Abstract
Sebastian Chan Australian Centre for the Moving Image Computing in museums is not new, however the last 10 years have seen an enormous rise in both the number of interfaces online and in galleries that are available to the public. The amount of data that these interfaces provide access to, though, is dwarfed by the data collected about how visitors use them and, increasingly, how visitors navigate the physical museum itself. Yet despite all of this, museums still struggle to provide access to their collections let alone in ways that meet the needs of their increasingly diverse visitors. This presentation will explore some of the recent trends and reveal some opportunities for cultural analytics to make significant advances in museum practice and design.
