Representation theory of Lie superalgebras was originally motivated by applications in physics and topology. In recent years duality and categorification unraveled new connections of superalgebras with other branches of representation theory. This lecture will be an introduction to the subject with emphasis on geometric methods and applications to tensor categories. I will also formulate some open problems.
