Coupling plasma simulations with QED processes Luis Silva Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon I will describe recent advances on coupling of plasma kinetic simulations with QED processes, first addressing the computational challenges and then providing illustrations on the relevance of these extended partice-in-cell models to describe extreme scenarios such as those associated with electromagnetic cascades driven by ultra intense lasers, vacuum polarisation processes, and beam-beam collisions.
